Maxi Dresses

Something that is defiantly in this Spring and upcoming Summer are Maxi Dresses. For all those that do not know what those are is they are basically like a summer dress that goes all the way down to your feet. I really like this style of dress. I recently bought one a day ago. For me, I would use this dress as a bikini cover up or when I go to Hawaii this Summer wear it at night when it cools down. When I went to Hawaii about two year ago, I found that when I wore a regular length dress I became a bit chilly. Maxi dresses sometimes tend to be a bit fancy, but I bought one that has a casual look to it. If you want to check it out click here. I purchased my dress in the color grey. It really brings out the tan color in my skin, I really liked the yellow but it blended more with my skin. I was very surprised when I check the price tag to this dress. Usually they are around $30 but this one was only $16.50. So I snatched it immediately.

Spring Hair Trend 2009

This season, braids are in, from braiding back your bangs, to totally twisted braided buns. They are all fun and flirty and perfect for the welcoming of spring. The most popular look is the braided headband. Now all the celebrities have their hairstylists do this for them, but it can be extremely hard for newbies, so a quick and easy way is to buy a headband with faux hair on it in your hair color. Then just slip it on and its a simple look that takes maybe 30 seconds! Another popular look (which is one of my favorites), is the braided back bang. Sometimes when I'm in dance or I'm just sick of my hair in my face I like to do this style. You can either french braid it or just normally braid it. Now I'm not good at french braiding so I just do it normally and bobby pin it. Another style is called the milk maid braid. How you do it, is you put your hair in two pig tails at even height. Then you braid them both, and bobby pin on top of your head. Make sure to conceal the bobby pins and this can be an adorable beach look, or a romatic first date look.

Happy Saint Pattie's Day!

Hey everyone today is the day for green eggs, green ham, and green milk! Today I'm going to talk about Spring Fashion 2009. This season its all about color. yellow, pink, and blue have been seen brightening up the Runway. As for prints geometric and abstract are in. Geometrical print looks great on anyone, you just have to know how to wear it. For instance, smaller women get smaller prints, and larger women get larger and bolder prints. Sheer fabric has also been seen layered over solid pieces of clothing. Pretty girly prints such as watercolored butterflies and florals are in, this is great for a spring dress. Many cute ones are available for a good price at Wet Seal! Another big trend this season is one shoulder dresses and shirts. Also skinny jeans are still in. Here are a few trick trends you could try. Also the picture above is an example of a sheer top you would layer a Cami underneath.

  • Chartreuse is in, this is the color of green and yellow mixed together, its one of the hardest colors to pull off.
  • Overalls are in again, these are pretty hard to pull off as well.
  • See-through, not just shirts, but now skirts.

Midnight Cowboy Lipstick!

I'm so excited to here that Urban Decay just came out with a Midnight Cowboy Lipstick! I'm absolutely in love with the eyeshadow color. Now, I don't wear lipstick but I've been searching around about this shade and I've fallin' in love with it. I just want to run over to a store and buy it right away! This lipstick is a creamy, shimmer, just right color. It costs twenty two dollars and as soon as I buy it and use it for a while I'll try to do a review! This was just a random post about the lipstick because I'm so psyched for it! Click here for the website!

Organic Softlips!

Just recently, Softlips came out with new Organic Softlips Chapstick. I'm very excited about this product. Its the same product but made with all organic ingredients! There are two flavors, honeydew melon and pomegranate. They have won an award for the best lip balm of 2008. A few main ingredients in this product are coconut oil, olive oil, fruit oil, shea butter, and beeswax. There is Vitamin E and Cucumber Extract for extra conditioning! Plus, its cruelty-free! Its certified organic by the USDA so you are for sure getting a true organic product. They still have SPF in them so no need to worry. They smell amazingly delicious and make your lips irresistibly soft. So before a hot date make sure to slide some on underneath that gloss! Also, what I like to do is exfoliate my lips with my tooth brush by rubbing it gently across them and then put on Softlips. Have a kissable day! (:

Two Organic Face Mask Recipes!

So recently I bought a new book (well used) for two dollars off of Barns and Noble online. I was very excited. I actually bought three different books. If I bought them in store brand new it would of been 30 dollars for all free but I bought all three online for a little under 17 dollars with shipping included! I was very pleased. They were barely even used, just a few creases on the pages here and there, but I was fine with that! Now one of the books I found these great organic recipes for a face mask and body scrub. These are very good quality recipes because they are used at top spas all over the world. If you guys are interested in the book its called InSPAration. Not only does it have recipes for face masks but also ways to stay and eat healthy, exercises, and beauty tips! Now the two recipes that I found today are called Dazzling-Duo Organic Facial and Sweet-Stuff Scrub. These have been rated very high in the book.

Dazzling-Duo Organic Facial:

Must Have-
1 1/2 cups of water
2 chamomile teabags
1/4 cup of plain vanilla yogurt

1/4 cup of honey

Squeeze of Lemon Juice

1/4 cup dry oatmeal (not instant kind)

Unscented paper towels

Step I

  1. Boil 1 cup of the water and pour it into a wide bowl. Add the teabags and allow to steep for 10 minutes.
  2. Pour the yogurt honey, and lemon juice into anther bowl.
  3. In a third bowl, mix the oatmeal with the ½ cup of cool or lukewarm water.
  4. Wash your face with a gentle cleanser and pat dry. Then use your fingers to gently massage oatmeal mixture over your face, using a circular motion. Leave the mixture on for 5 minutes, then rinse with warm water and pat dry.

Step II

  1. Smooth an even layer of the honey-yogurt mask.
  2. Dip 5-8 paper towels, one by one, into the tea. Wring gently and place each on over a different are of your face to create the mummy effect. Leave your mouth and nostrils free so you can breathe easily. (hint: helps if your lying down they stay in place better)
  3. Relax for 15 minutes, then rinse your face again using cool water to seal in the moistures and close your pores against bacteria.

Sweet-Stuff Scrub:

Must Haves-

2 Egg Yolks

4 tablespoons honey
6 tablespoons olive oil or vegetable oil

1 tablespoon granulated sugar white or brown

Step I

  1. Drop the egg yolks into a small bowl and stir lightly. Add honey and oil, mix thoroughly Stir in the sugar and mix well. The goal is to achieve a nice slushy consistency, so add a little more oil or sugar as needed
  2. Get in the shower, and use a washcloth or loofah to massage the mixture onto wet skin. Rinse well with lukewarm water, then finish with a soothing moisturizer.

Bath and Body Optimism.

Hey guys I found this new product that I sampled at Bath and Body. Its a new aromatherapy that really works! Its called Bath and Body Optimism. Now what it does is you roll it on the insides of your wrists and inhale it. Its suppose to promote optimism. It has Jasmine, Tuberose and Maté in it. These are proven to lift spirits and make you feel happier. There is more than one way you can purchase this, you can get it in the roll on bottle (picture on the side), bubble bath, fragrance oil (for oil warmers), or even body mist. When I put this on the insides of my wrists I was feeling a bit down, but within ten minutes I was starting to feel happy and bubbly. Also you may or may not know but I like to be very eco-friendly. So a plus for me about this product is its not tested on animals! (Yes, that does count as eco-friendly (:) As of today I'm going to start posting ways you can be eco-friendly too! They may be in the sidebar of my blog or at the bottom of a post! So keep an eye out for them!

Green Tip: Instead of using Google to search try www.blackle.com! Its powered by Google but it has a black background instead of white. Google takes twice as much watt power than Blackle.
